Hopkinton is an historic town located in the southwest corner of Rhode Island. The size of the town is 44 square miles and the population is approximately 8,000. It was incorporated in March 1757 and consists of four villages, Ashaway, Bradford, Hope Valley, and Rockville. Hopkinton has over 1,000 acres of open space, supporting various recreational activities, including hiking, fishing and canoeing. Hopkinton is part of the Chariho School District, which also includes the towns of Charlestown and Richmond. Hopkinton is home to the oldest continuous family business in the U.S. - Ashaway Line & Twine.

Adopted Budget FY2008-09
The Town voted to approve the proposed budget for FY2008-09. Thanks to all who came out to vote. Click here to review.

Be On Alert!
Rabid foxes have been seen in the Cedarwood Lane vicinity in
Hope Valley.  Two people have been bit and two foxes have been caught.  If you see any animal that shows signs of rabies, please
call the DEM at 401-222-3070. 
Some warning signs of rabies include aggression, erratic behavior, and trembling.  Do not attempt to contain the animal.  Call the DEM. 
If someone does get bit by an animal suspected of having rabies,
call 911 or get medical attention immediately.    
Chip Seal Notice
The Hopkinton Department of Public Works will be chip sealing several streets in June 2008. Click here to see which streets are affected.

You can now read the Town's Code of Ordinances online. Currently, the ordinances have been codified through Ord. No. 198, enacted July 2, 2007.
