Mission The Building and Zoning Department provides a knowledge base of experience and necessary paperwork concerning building and construction matters. We receive applications required by the State, issue permits, and furnish the prescribed certificates. We examine property to ensure compliance with the law and construction safety and take action to remove illegal and unsafe conditions. The office is located at 395 Woodville Road in the Charles Niles Complex. Normal hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:30 until 3:30. It is recommended to call the office if you would like to come in to ensure someone is available to help you as we are at times on inspections or at other Town Buildings.
Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Inspections are conducted through this department. Please call the office at (401) 377-7771 to schedule an appointment.
The Inspections are done as follows:
Plumbing and Mechanical inspections are performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Building inspections Monday-Wednesday-Friday
Electrical inspections are performed within 48 hours of the inspection request
