Registration is NOW OPEN for our holiday-time Adopt-a-Family program!
This annual program provides financial assistance so that families can purchase holiday gifts and neighbors can gain access to everything needed for Thanksgiving and holiday dinners.
For 2021, in support of public health and to empower Adoptees to make their own purchasing choices, the Adopt-a-Family program will take the form of a gift card disbursement. The disbursement will take place November 13 and 14 on-site at the Jonnycake Center of Westerly. Adoptees will receive gift cards to southern Rhode Island and eastern Connecticut retailers and grocers, allowing them to make their own personal and unique decisions.
COVID-19 measures in 2020 compelled the Jonnycake Center of Westerly to retool the Adopt-a-Family program to offer financial assistance instead of physical gifts and meals, which could not have been safely accepted via donations, quarantined, sorted, and distributed on the scale necessary for the program to be successful. Following overwhelmingly positive feedback from Adoptees who participated in 2020, who told us that the revised program gave them greatly increased flexibility, the same system will be used for 2021.
We were able to help provide gifts for nearly 500 children, and over 1,200 neighbors received assistance for holiday meals in 2020. Please be part of our program for 2021!

Registration closes Monday, October 25.
Gift cards will be disbursed Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14 at 23 Industrial Drive in Westerly.
